Biscuit making is truly an art form. The SECRET to making biscuits like Grandma's, fluffy layers on the inside and a thin crispy outer layer, is all in how you mix them. When adding the water and other ingredients, gently FOLD them together just until moistened. Place heaping tablespoons closely on baking sheet as this helps to make fluffy biscuits.
BEWARE! DON'T over-stir batter or the biscuits will come out hard and crispy. DON'T add too much water or they will come out flat like a pancake. The up-side is that even the mistakes taste good!

Julia's Pantry Red Eye Gravy Mix is an easy ham gravy mix that's ready in minutes. Often described as an intense, bitter flavor, Red Eye Gravy remains a southern tradition and desired by many.
Growing up southern, breakfast had to be hearty, filling and warm. Traditional southern breakfasts include, eggs, creamy grits, country ham, bacon and/or sausage, drop biscuits and red eye gravy. Grandma Julia always had biscuits and gravy and greens and gravy ready to enjoy any time of the day. Red Eye Gravy was a staple gravy at every Sunday dinner. Customers rave about our gravy mix and reminisce that it reminds them of the gravy that their parents/grandparents made when they were growing up, too.
From product designs, cloth bags, labels and scratch made mixes, our products are literally made and packaged by hand and produced in small batches to ensure each meets our high quality standards. Our nostalgic cloth bags spotlight some of Grandma's quilts and represent feed cloths and sacks of days gone by and supports our efforts to go green.
